Loosely inspired by the novel "The Abbess of Castro" by Stendhal, "The Falcon and the Dove" is a story of passion and intrigue in papal Rome of the '500. Giulio Branciforte was a captain of humble origins in the pay of Cardinal Pompeo Colonna, who seeks to unseat Pope Clement VII from the papal throne. Elena Campireali belongs to a wealthy family of Albano, faithful to Clement VII, and is tied to the mother who provided for his daughter a marriage of the Prince Savelli, a powerful banker.
